Tenterfield is the place where the threads of the federation movement were given purposeful shape. It was in the towns nationally acclaimed School of Arts on the 24th October 1889 that Sir Henry Parkes reasoned the colonies needed “one great government for all Australia.” Tenterfield is at its most beautiful in autumn, when tall poplars, Pinoaks and liquid ambers splash gold and claret on the clear blue sky.
